Cookies and Conversations on Thursday are designed to give attendees the opportunity to network with others who have similar job responsibilities. You may choose any of the sessions to attend, so if you are more interested in learning from a different group, you are welcome.

Assessment Literacy

Not all tests are created equal. Assessment literacy means differntiating between appropriate and inappropriate uses of different types of assessment and assessment results. This session will help educators start to identify, select, and/or create appropriate, efficient, and precise assessments that engage students in demonstrating their knowledge and abilities relative to targeted learning goals.

What resource is the most valuable that we are all working to protect? Data. Our data is necessary for most everything we do. We will also cover the importance of the data that is reported to KSDE, how it is used and the importance of data quality. Our new Kansas Education Data System (KEDS) is a step in the right direction to more timely and accurate data. KSDE IT staff will give an update on this project as well as other new and exciting projects that are in progress.
