About me
I have been teaching for 25 years. For over 20 years, I taught general education in grades 1, 3, and 5, and special education in K-12. I have had the opportunity to teach in various places including Vernon Parish, Louisiana, Wurzburg, and Ansbach in Germany, as well as Fairfax County, Virginia. Twelve years ago, my family received orders for Fort Riley, KS, and after my husband retired, we decided to make this our home. For the last 5 years, I have worked as the ELA District Specialist K-12 in Geary County. I have been a LETRS trainer in the 2nd edition since 2013 and the 3rd edition since 2019. In 2022, I became a member of the Kansas Literacy Council, and in 2023, I became a Teacher Leader Consultant with KSDE, and am now part of the Language Arts team.
I have 3 kids: Kaleb graduated from Manhattan Christian College in 2022 and married his wife, Emma, in 2023. Riley Ann attends Wichita State University, majoring in Psychology, and hopes to attend med school and focus on Psychiatry. She is engaged to Donnie, and they will get married in the summer of 2026. Brayden is in 8th grade and loves all things sports. He keeps us busy with football, wrestling, track, and Muay Thai. My husband, Shane, served 22 years in the army and now works in cybersecurity at Ft. Riley.
