Cookies and Conversations on Thursday are designed to give attendees the opportunity to network with others who have similar job responsibilities. You may choose any of the sessions to attend, so if you are more interested in learning from a different group, you are welcome.

About me

John Calvert graduated from Washburn University in 2006 with a degree in Criminal Justice. After a 12-year career in Law Enforcement, six of which he served as a School Resource Officer, John accepted a position with the Kansas State Department of Education and is now the Director of the Safe and Secure Schools Unit. John is a strong believer that nothing can change without building positive relationships, and he believes that change in our schools should be student-led.
